When selecting your choice of food for your puppy, only look for brands that state the first ingredient as meat. Avoid meat by-products, corn, soy, wheat and grain-free for puppies. Do not feed puppies grain free. Check out Dog Food Advisor to find out if you are feeding a quality brand of dog food. |

Exercise: Mental and Physical Stimulation
It is important that your dog receive daily exercise to maintain healthy joints and muscles. Mental and physical stimulation are important to keep your dog fit. Walking your dog is a great way for your dog to work off excess energy. You want your dog to feel good and live a long healthy life. Dogs get bored. They tend to develop destructive behaviors if they do not receive adequate amount of exercise daily. They need an outlet for their minds. A few destructive behaviors can be chewing on furniture, shoes, digging, and excessive barking.
Some good ways to give your dog more mental stimulation are: A puzzle toy, snuffle mat, West Paw Toppl Treat Dispensing Toy Puzzle, teach your dog a new trick, make an obstacle course for your dog and have your dog work for their food.
Visit our 'Sports for the German Shepherd Dog' page for more ways you can engage your dog to fulfill it's mental and physical needs.
